Identity Ties is a unisex spring/summer collection that delves into self-discovery and cultural reclamation, merging traditional and contemporary elements of Nepalese culture to narrate Sneha Tamang’s journey as a Nepali immigrant. Traditional Nepali silhouettes are reimagined with a minimalist edge, featuring a monochrome palette, sleek lines, layered structures, and asymmetrical cuts. Each look carries an emotional arc, tracing a path from uncertainty to self-assurance. The collection begins with structured, confined silhouettes in muted beige tones, gradually evolving into darker shades that convey a sense of freedom and confidence. The final designs embody open, flowing forms that symbolise the liberation found in embracing one’s true identity.
Sustainability lies at the core of Identity Ties, prioritising natural fibres like linen, cotton, and silk. Nepalese artisanal techniques—including knotting, lace-ups, button loops, and wrap-around closures—add depth to each piece, grounding it in cultural heritage. Ultimately, this collection is a reflection of Tamang’s journey, honouring her roots while adapting to a new cultural landscape.
