HUSK – Bevi Acqua Designs

Bevi Acqua Designs’ ‘HUSK’ FW25 collection is inspired by the remote areas of South East Queensland, where small towns evoke a haunting, yet intriguing charm. The collection celebrates the natural beauty and organic textures of these landscapes, incorporating everyday objects from rural life into a narrative that reinterprets their significance while embracing their heritage.

HUSK – Silhouette 1

Look 1 consists of a curved padded vest with exposed wadding and burnt edges, as well as hand sewn patches and embellishments throughout. Underneath, a rusted-dyed button up shirt with gathered sleeves and cuffs, featuring metal staples running down the length of the hidden placket. Paired with wide leg indigo denim with orange top stitching resembling topography lines found on maps.

HUSK – Silhouette 6

The final look of the collection is a strapless, gathered three tier maxi dress with rusted detailing throughout, specifically on the bodice where rusted nails were used to achieve a ‘train-track-like’ motif running across the front seams. A faux placket curves from the the top of the bodice to the hip, where ruffles and decadent lace are haphazardly stitched together, creating exaggerated detail that mimics the extravagance of period-style button downs and tunics, but chaotic and tangled as if it had been dragged through dirt. The adjustable choker continues this motif, with more lace and frills cascading from the shoulder to intensify the silhouette.

Zane Hume

Born and raised in rural South East Queensland, Zane Hume's design philosophy is deeply influenced by his upbringing in a small agricultural town. Drawing inspiration from farming practices, weathered materials, and the natural shapes and textures of the Australian landscape, his work reflects a strong connection to his roots. In 2021, Zane relocated to Brisbane to pursue a dual degree in Fashion Design and Business Marketing at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
