A Girl’s World

Step into A Girl’s World, a whimsical vision of girlhood where imagination knows no bounds. This collection weaves together the essence of femininity, with every bow and ruffle serving a purpose. These details demand space, reminding us that femininity is not a limitation but a powerful expression of who we are.

In this collection, I honour the women who came before me by documenting the stories behind the fabrics and materials I’ve been gifted. These materials, each with its own story, reflect the beauty of girlhood and the importance of the women who have influenced my journey. Their generosity is woven into the fabric of my collection, celebrating the strength, softness, and timelessness of womanhood.
One of my fabrics was purchased from Karen, a history and textiles teacher, originally bought in the 90s for a wedding dress that was never made. She was reluctant to part with it, so I’m fortunate to have received it for my collection.
The lace for another piece was given to me by my mum, originally a curtain from the house we moved into years ago. She saved it for me, knowing I would want to use it for a garment one day. She also gifted me a box of buttons, lace, and trims, hoping I’d incorporate them into my graduate collection. These pieces now appear throughout my collection.
My best friend, Cassie, shared a special piece of her family’s history with me. After her grandmother passed away, Cassie was given a collection of beautiful sewing materials. She kindly passed on a bag of ribbon to me, which now adorns several pieces in my collection. It’s a gift that truly captures the essence of girlhood—the passing down of creativity, love, and care through generations.

These materials, each with its own story, reflect the beauty of girlhood and the importance of the women who have influenced my journey. Their generosity is woven into the fabric of my collection, celebrating the strength, softness, and timelessness of womanhood.
